FEDERATION OF NEW BRUNSWICK FACULTY ASSOCIATIONS

TERMS OF REFERENCE FOR THE PRIX NICOLE RAYMOND AWARD

1. NATURE OF THE AWARD

The Award is given to a person, group of persons or an organization in recognition of a distinguished contribution to the advancement of the cause and/or public profile of post-secondary education. It is awarded by the Federation in memory of the contributions to academic life through her teaching, research activities and involvement in professional associations of the late Professor Nicole Raymond of the University of Moncton.

The Award is customarily presented at the Annual General Meeting of the Federation.

2. SELECTION PROCEDURES

A call for nominations shall be published at least once each year in the FNBFA "Bulletin", and the names of nominees for the current year, addressed to the Chair of the Selection Committee, should be received by the Federation by March 31. A selection committee comprised of three members of the Board of Directors will study the nominations and present its recommendations at the next Board meeting of the Federation.

Only one Award shall be given in any academic year. The Award, however, shall not necessarily be given annually; and the decision whether or not to grant the Award in any academic year shall be in the sole discretion of the Board of the Federation.

Originally envisioned as a parchment, instead the Award has variously taken the form of unique pieces of pottery and of pewter, fashioned by New Brunswick artisans, because of procurement and cost considerations since it was first granted (to Dr. Allan Sharp in 1987).
