- September 30th – The Executive Director meets the Executive Director of the NB Student Alliance
- September 29th – The FNBFA issues a request to the Government of New Brunswick under Access to Information for information on Atlantic Baptist University (Crandall) for the past three years
- September 22nd – The FNBFA issues a request to the Government of New Brunswick to have its Executive Director and/or a faculty member appointed to the board of directors of the MPHEC. There are vacancies coming up in November 2009.

- March 20 - Director's Manual made available on the website. The manual deals with, among other things, the Federation's by-laws as well as the criteria and guidelines for all its committees. There were
939 website requests made in February, up from 638 in January.

- March 14 - Confirmed arrangements to meet with Deputy Ministers of Education (anglophone and francophone) on April 9 next.

- December 8 - Developed text and arranged broadcast on CBC/Radio Canada television between December 18 and January 5 of FNBFA "Christmas Message".
- December 6 - Revised the Telegraph Journal article for post-election publication in the Times-Transcript.
- November 25 - Arranged for Tim Andrew, former MPHEC Chair, to modify and read on CBC Radio the President's "Education Merits Funding" op-ed piece published in the Telegraph Journal prior to the federal
election.
- November 22-26 - Attended CAUT Council meeting in Ottawa.
Federal Election Activities
- Arranged with N.B. Student Alliance (NBSA) for NBSA members to distribute 50,000 postcards in support of CAUT "Fund the Future" postcard campaign on a 50-50 shared cost basis with the Federation.
- Executive Director and FNBFA Vice-president C. Dionne participated, with N.B. Student Alliance, in joint news conference at Moncton campus of l'Université de Moncton on November 17.
- Issued pre-election "op-ed" piece on November 16 on "health care vs. education", published in Telegraph Journal November 23.
- Collaborated with former Maritime Provinces Higher Education Commission Chair J.T.G ("Tim") Andrew on an editorial based on November 16 "op-ed" piece [see above] delivered by him on the CBC
Radio November 24 edition of "Information Morning".
- Issued modified version of November 16 "op-ed" piece to Times - Transcript for publication on December 2.
- November 18 - Executive Director met in Fredericton on November 14 with new N.B. Assistant Deputy Minister Louise Boudreau-Gillis, and Director of Post-Secondary Education James Cromwell, to discuss criteria for
recognition of "private universities" and in follow-up to meeting of September 14 with Deputy Ministers.
- October 22 - 18. Executive Director met on October 22 in Fredericton with Dominic Blakely, N.B. Executive Director Assistant to federal Minister of Labour Hon. Claudette Bradshaw, M.P.
- September 18 - Brief on federal funding of post-secondary education submitted to House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance.
- September 14 - President and Executive Director met on September 14 with N.B. Deputy Ministers of Education Raymond Daigle (francophone) and Robin Roe (anglophone) to discuss strategies for promotion
of the benefits of a university education to high school students and their parents.
- July 15 - Second "op-ed" piece, on HRDC Statistics concerning job prospects of students with various levels of education, published in Daily Gleaner [reprinted in FNBFA Bulletin, September 2000 issue.]
- July 5 - The Executive Director wrote to all provincial radio stations newsrooms to advise them that a spokesperson for the Federation can be made available at short notice to give its perspective on topical issues relating to universities.
- June 23 - The Executive Director and President met with Times-Transcript Op-Ed editor Norbert Cunningham in Moncton to discuss hostile attitude of paper towards ABPPUM. Secured space for a minimum of one 800-word "op-ed" article.
- June 10 - The Executive met to draft Objectives and Priorities of the Federation for 2000.
- June 7 - The Executive Director attended the N.B. Federation of Labour Annual General Meeting in Edmundston.
- May 23 - Issued news release to all radio stations and newspapers in New Brunswick to announce the names of the candidates selected for the 2000 Semeluk Scholarship shortlist.
- May 18 - Attended the New Brunswick Labour Force Development Board (NBLFDB) Education Reference Group quarterly meeting in Fredericton.
- May 15 - Discussed and agreed with CAUT, and with other provincial associations, alternative potential responses to February 28 federal budget. Developed plan of action to achieve better visibility in print media.
- May 11 - Annual General Meeting and Plenary Session in Sippigan.
- April - Obtained confirmation from incoming president of New Brunswick Student Alliance of intent to continue mutual co-operation on lobbying matters. 10. N.B. Deputy Minister of Education Raymond Daigle secured as guest speaker for May 11 Annual
Plenary Session.
- March - Rearranged Board Meeting from March 18 in Fredericton to March 10 in Moncton, to enable Board members to show solidarity with striking l'ABPPUM colleagues. Executive Director's "Letter-to-the-Editor" clarifying the issues in
the strike at l'Université de Moncton published in March 25 issue of the Telegraph Journal. Issued first "op-ed" piece March 30 (published in Daily Gleaner) on increases in university operating funding in provincial budget.
- March 2 - Executive Director met with Raymond Daigle, New Brunswick Deputy Minister of Education, to discuss issues of concern to faculty.
- February 23 - The President and Executive Director attended the meeting of the Education Reference Group of the New Brunswick Labour Force Development Board. Met the Editor of the Daily Gleaner and secured space for a minimum of three 600-word
"op-ed" articles on university education.
- February 3 - President, Executive Director, and Richard McGaw meet with Minister of Finance, Norman Betts and Minister of Education, Elvy Robichaud to discuss possible means of extracting federal funds for core funding of Unversities.
- February 2 - President and Executive Director accompanied MAFA and FAUST delegation to meet with the Minister of Labour Norman McFarlane, Donald B. Chevarie (Executive Director, Industrial Relation and WorkplaceRegulations) and Norman Laverty
(Chief Pension Analyst, Office of the Superintendent of Pensions) to discuss desired changes in Pension legislation and regulations.

- December 16 - President accompanied MAFA and FAUST delegation to meet with Donald B. Chevarie (Executive Director, Industrial Relation and WorkplaceRegulations) and Norman Laverty (Chief Pension Analyst, Office of the Superintendent of Pensions)
to discuss desired changes in Pension legislation and regulations.
- December 8-9 - Executive Director attended NBLFDB Board meeting in Fredericton.
- November 18 - Executive Director and President met with (federal) Labour Minister C. Bradshaw on CAUT lobbying day.
- November 17 - Executive Director will attend "Pre-Budget symposium" sponsored by NBSA in Moncton. ( Education Minister Elvy Robichaud is expected to attend.)
- November 15 - President, vice-President and Executive Director testified before the (federal) Standing Committee on Finance in Halifax, N.S. (by invitation)
- October 29-31 - President and Executive Director attended the CAUT sponsored conference on: "The Commercialization of the Universities - Universities and Colleges in the
Public Interest" in Ottawa.
- October 7 - President and Executive director presented the Federation's response to its draft report at the "Public Hearing of the Expert Panel on Investment in University Research" at the UNB Fredericton Campus.
- October 6 - Executive Director attended "Effecting Curriculum Change" sponsored by the Faculty of Education at UNB (Fredericton campus.) [Deputy Minister Dennis Cochrane was the guest speaker.]
- September 22 - President, Vice-president and Executive Director met with New Brunswick Education Minister Hon. Elvy Robichaud, Deputy Minister Dennis Cochrane, and Director of Post-Secondary Affairs James Cromwell.
- September 15 - Executive Director attended Annual General Meeting of NBLFDB in Fredericton.
- September 13 - President and Executive Director attended the NBLFDB "Education Reference Group" meeting in Fredericton.
- September 2 - Executive Director met with Samuel LeBreton, Senior Economist with Human Resources Development - Canada, to obtain updated figures on labour-market participation of individuals with different levels of education.
- August 18 - Executive Director participated in fifth national conference call of professional officers.
- July 30 - Executive Director met with Ian Foucher, President of the New Brunswick Student Alliance (NBSA) to discuss ongoing cooperation after August 1, 1999 NBSA office move to Moncton.
- July 28 - President and Executive Director met in Moncton, with New Brunswick Federation of Labour (NBFL) Executive Director to discuss "education versus training" and pension issues.
- July 20 - Executive Director participated in fourth national conference call of professional officers.
- June 22-23 - President and Executive Director attended the "Skills Development in the Knowledge-Based Economy" policy research initiative jointly sponsored by the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), the Atlantic
Provinces Economic Council (APEC), Industry Canada, and the Policy Research Secretariat (PRS). [By invitation only. Again, the Federation was invited to participate on the recommendation of the MPHEC].
- June 3-4 - Profs. Lionel Dionne, Don Fields, Francis Weil, and Executive Director attended the "Consultation Workshop" convened by the Prime Minister's Advisory Council on Science and Technology's Expert Panel on Skills
at l'Université de Moncton Campus. [By invitation only. The Federation was invited to participate on the recommendation of the Maritime Provinces Higher Education Commission.]
- May 20 - Executive Director attended New Brunswick Student Alliance News Conference.
- May 12 - Meeting with Carmelita Boivin-Cole, MPHEC Chief Executive Officer, and Rachel Bard, Assistant Deputy Minister - University Affairs, to discuss draft of MPHEC Business Plan for 1999-2000.
- April 6 - Executive Director participated in third national conference call of professional officers.
- March 24 - Executive Director attended "Cabinet Committee Hearings on Social Renewal" in Woodstock, New Brunswick.
- February 6 - The Board of the Federation and other member-association representatives met to discuss the re-structuring of the Federation at the Hôtel Beausejour, Moncton.

- November 19-20 - Executive Director delivered an address, "Classical Education vs. Training for the Job Market" to the 2nd Annual Conference on the State of Higher Education in the Maritimes sponsored by the MPHEC in Moncton.
- November 5 - Executive Director attended address given by, and later met privately with, Premier Camille Thériault at Mount Allison University.
- October 29 - President and Executive Director met with journalist David Meagher of the Fredericton Daily Gleaner.
- October 21 - Executive Director met with new Deputy Minister of Education, Dennis Cochrane.
- October 20 - Vice-President and Prof. John Thompson presented Federation's brief to the House of Commons Finance Committee "Pre-Budget Hearings" in Saint John, New Brunswick [By invitation only.]
- October 18 - President and Executive director attended Canadian Institute for Research and Planning (CIRPA) Seventh Annual Conference "Developing Partnerships" in St. John's, Newfoundland. [ The Federation was appointed the liaison
group for New Brunswick at this conference.]
- October 15 - President and Executive Director attended "Education Reference Group Forum" of the New Brunswick Labour Force Development Board (NBLFDB) in Fredericton.
- October 14 - Executive Director met with Mme Rachel Bard, new Assistant Deputy Minister of Education - University Affairs.

- September 17 - Vice-president and Executive Director presented response to CMEC "Discussion Paper on Public Expectations of Post-Secondary Education in Canada" in Fredericton[The contents of the individual responses of the university
administrations and student groups, respectively presented by Dr. Elizabeth Parr-Johnston and Anthony Knight, were coordinated by the three groups prior to their presentation.]
- August 13 - Executive Director participated in first CAUT sponsored conference call of federal/provincial professional officers to discuss matters of topical concern across Canada.
- July 8-10 - President and Executive Director attended "Training-Working-Learning: 2000 & Beyond" Conference in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, sponsored by Holland College
- June 30 - Executive Director met with W. Smith, Assistant Deputy Minister of Education - University Affairs, in Fredericton.
- June 8 - Vice-president and Executive Director presented Proposals Brief on the future role and mandate of the Maritime Provinces Higher Education Commission (MPHEC) to the Commission in committee-of-the-whole in Antigonish, Nova Scotia.
- May 28-30 - President and Executive Director attended Council of Ministers of Education of Canada (CMEC) "3rd National Consultation on Education" in St. John's, Newfoundland. [By invitation only. The Federation's representatives had been asked by the
Province of New Brunswick to join its delegation.]
